Anderson’s Eco Retreat is 100% Off-grid. Powered entirely by Solar it is important to understand that the system does have its limitations. All appliances have been carefully selected for their low power usage. Please be mindful of your power usage and switch off all lights and appliances when not in use.

Please do not use any electrical appliances other than the ones supplied. Other appliances such as slow cookers, heaters, stereo equipment, may cause power outages and/or damage to the system. Strictly no charging of electric vehicles Charges will apply should the system shutdown from miss-use.

Phone & computer chargers are acceptable.

We have recently installed guest Wi-Fi for those times when you need it. It is satellite internet that sometimes can be affected by weather. We kindly ask guests to use it sparingly.  If you are with Telstra, Wi-Fi calling should be available.

·         There are two gas bottles with a dial in the middle pointing to the bottle that is in use. First, open the second gas bottle by turning tap anti-clockwise all the way.

·         Next, turn the dial so it now points to the second (full) gas bottle.

·         Now close the first (empty) gas bottle by turning tap clockwise all the way.

The hot water can take a little while to come through. Please be patient.

Electric Blankets

We have provided electric blankets for your comfort.

Switch on from the back of the controller. Press the clock symbol on the front of the controller and set to 1h. Press the temperature symbol to select your ideal temperature from 1-6. The electric blanket takes just 5 minutes to heat up and will switch off automatically after 1 hour.

Please do not use the 9h setting. Leaving the electric blanket on for this amount of time will put too much strain on the solar power. Please switch off when not in use.

Bathing & drinking water

All bathing & drinking water on the property is rainwater harvested in our rainwater tanks. This means no rain, no water. Please be mindful of this when showering and utilizing the water, especially in warmer months.

Please monitor the bath when filling. There is an overflow slot on the side of the bath to ensure you cannot over fill the bath.

Please do not wash vehicles.

Hammock

The Hammock is stored in the bedroom cupboard. Hammock hooks are on the two trees across the grass out front of the cabin. Single person hammock with max weight of 100kg.

No shoes on the hammock please.

Return to cupboard when not in use.

Do not leave out overnight.

Outdoor Fire pit

Please use responsibly. Check weather conditions before lighting the fire pit and extinguish if required. Do Not leave fire unattended. Strictly no fires on warm windy days or days of total fire ban.

Walking Tracks

We encourage our guests to enjoy the walking trails on the property. We have supplied a map and signage to help you do so. Please keep to the trails marked on the map and adhere to any ‘No Entry’ signs you may come across. They are there for your safety and also our privacy.

Please note, the walking tracks can be muddy & slippery particularly during the winter months. The Lookout Track is particularly challenging & should only be undertaken by experienced walkers.

Basketball & Tennis Court

Shoot a few hoops or play a bit of hit and giggle on our tennis court. Racquets and balls can be found in the silver box near the gate of the court. Please return all equipment, including balls that have been hit outside of the court, back to the box.

Do not climb on net or fences at any time.

No dirty shoes on the court.

Tennis Pavilion

Head on down to the Pavilion next to the tennis court. Inside you will find Table Tennis, a Pool Table and darts. Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connectivity to speakers for listening to your own play lists. A great place to spend time on a rainy day.

Spring Fed Swimming Hole

Why not grab a tube and have a float in our spring fed swimming hole. Take a seat on the jetty and watch the fish swim by(sorry no fishing). Keep an eye out for our resident turtle. Swimming is at your own risk. Entry into the water is via the beach or jetty only. No Diving. Please do not climb up/down the banks as this causes erosion. Inflatable tubes are stored in the pavilion. Please use responsibly and do not enter the water if you are unable to swim.

Our Dog ‘Rusty’

Part of our family is a medium size German shepherd x Collie named ‘Rusty’. He is friendly and may bark if he sees you out walking or enjoying the swimming hole. We understand not all people like dogs so we have trained him NOT to go to the cabin. If he does try to follow you, please tell him ‘No. Go Home’. He understands basic commands.

Please note at times we do get visits from the occasional stray dog. Please do not interact with them. Just let us know if you see one, take a pic if possible.

Wildlife

Being surrounded by the Bunyip State Park there is an abundance of wildlife to enjoy. You will likely see many beautiful birds, wallabies, wombats, lizards and more. Given it is the Aussie Bush there are also some that may be considered not so beautiful such as insects, spiders & snakes. Please be aware when walking around the property and take the necessary precautions. Personal insect repellent, bug spray & citronella candles are available under the kitchen sink should you need it.
